BNL Chatter / Random Surveys / How was your Valentine's Day/Weekend?

Joe Feb 15th 10:17 am

Spill it, Chatters.

We just played it low-key and mellow because Justin was sick.  Had breakfast, hung around the house and relaxed - watched Monsters vs. Aliens.  That was Sunday.  On Saturday we had Dim Sum and hung out on the Waterfront.  I told Justin if he would eat a chicken's foot, I would give him a surprise.  I gave him a Sylvester the Mummy bobblehead!

bnldavid Feb 15th 11:54 am

Friday night we had Gibbs and got him a great haircut. Dinner from Culvers including a chicken sandwich (plain) for the little guy and a cup of vanilla custard.

Saturday went to a movie with mrs. David (Valentines Day with a host of big names-it was cute) and a mistake of a late dinner at Applebees (shitty service).

Sunday made buttermilk pancakes for my braide from scratch, mostly worked on paperwork around the house, downloaded some new music, and generally screwed up some valentine stuff, but yeah.

Valentines…hmmm…high fever, chills and vomiting over and over…lay on sectional in theatre under blankets jacked up on phenergan. Couldn't even turn my head without puking. Finally took a percocet for extreme headache, muscle aches and the toes on my right foot cramped and curled for over an hour…listened to NBA all-star game with cold pack on my eyes.  Son went out and bought me gingerale.  Chip came home from VERY busy day at restaurant and put me to bed.  Just woke up and think I might possibly live.  That was about the nastiest 24 hours I've had in a long time.

We never celebrate Valentines anyway--VERY busy restaurant day…Chip bought me a spa day at J.Bentley and a nice card. He did buy his daughter roses which is more important to me than what he does for me.  We go to dinner and do cool things all the time…valentines is just another day to me because Chip has always been in the business.  (I told him I'd rather have a spa day than flowers)

Woke up together at my place - hooray sin! Gave him his gift a fire extinguisher (the one at his place expired in '72 or something) and a giftcard to a pizza place downtown. He said he left my gift at home and that he wanted to go shopping. We took Free to his house, went to Portillo's, and went to the mall. He bought me a shirt and a shirtdress. Then we went home and ate burritos and watched the olympics. He hates crowded restaurants so I've pretty much resigned myself to anti-foodie v-days.

My Baby Doll came over on Saturday in the early afternoon.  We went to the Santana Row area and walked around.  We stumbled in to a group Salsa Dance lesson and did the intro lesson.

Then we went to Nordstrom's to get her the special kinda undershirt dealy things she likes.  There were all kinds of colors.  We browsed and flirted.

Then back to my place. I made us some dinner.  Homemade wild rice soup, fresh veggie salad, white fish, and sweet potatoes.  She helped with salad and setup.  Yummy romanticin' dinner!

Then we dressed up and caught the 8pm Cirque du Soleil "Ovo" show.  Great performance.  All I can say is "wow!"

My place again.  I had some kindling wood ready to go in the fireplace.  She brought dessert --> Two chocolate and two red velvet cupcakes. With a fire in the fireplace, we relaxed and then exchanged cards.  She got me the new Owl City CD, "Ocean Eyes."  She also gave me a lavendar candle.

The fire burned down around 3am.

For breakfast: blueberry pancakes (with real blueberries) and chicken sausages.  Sunday was lounge, cuddle, and relax time.  Ahhhhhhh…

Richard Feb 15th 6:47 pm

Lots of food, lots of napping, and lots of hot sex.  I got her a necklace and some fancy lactard chocolates.  It was a good day.

Stephanie Feb 15th 7:47 pm

I did laundry for 2 hours ... very exciting.

Richard Feb 15th 7:50 pm

Were underthings involved?

Joe Feb 15th 7:53 pm

Who's "Laundry," Stephanie?

I hope you weren't too hard on him.

(the one at his place expired in '72 or something)

That's just sexy talk right there. 1972, it was a very good year for fire extinguishers.

We went to dinner in SF, on the way we got stuck in a traffic jam on Embarcadero next to the "cupids arrow" statue, Henry spotted a hard to find parking spot and started driving thru the bike lane to get it as I yelled "watch out" don't get hit!! We paid for parking for a half an hour and then he practically pulled my arm off walking to the statue as I yelled "stop pulling, we have a lot of time" He's like I wanna take a cute valentine's pic in front of the arrow, then we arrive and he say's he has a question for me, gets down on one knee, asks me, and I of course say yes, as he gets up to get the ring horns start honking and everyone yells "Yeah" as Henry and I throw up our arms and he screams "she said yes!" more honking, tears, he puts the ring on, we acoste some foreign couple to take cute pics and then go to dinner and a walk thru china town, then we ran home and did "laundry" ;o) He could barely walk the next day! hahahahahahhahahaha

sprung Feb 16th 5:33 pm

Congratulations!! :)

Oh… and as for my Valentines Day - I was in Vegas. :)

We started the day by doing the CSI Experience at MGM, then went to the Shark Reef thing at Mandalay Bay…. then Blue Man Group at the Venetian.

Ended the day by getting picked up in a stretch hummer limo and going to watch my best friend and her hubby renew their vows at the stroke of midnight going into the 15th (and their 10th anniversary).

The shuttle picked me up at 4:30a to take me to the airport.  That part sucked.

Stephanie Feb 16th 5:57 pm

ha , it was my laundry Joe!

Darlene Feb 16th 10:17 pm

Congrats Missy!

Darlene Feb 16th 10:29 pm

A little late… better late than never…but Valentines just doesn't fit in our schedules…Chip will take me to Eddie Merlot's Thursday night…wonderful steakhouse with heavenly lobster mashed potatoes…

I could just eat a bowl of the potatoes…

(Sean and Fleck… you so have to try this place…I like it better than Hyde Park)

Tomorrow night…OSU vs. Purdue…

On call over the weekend…so maybe do my spa thing next weekend…

ebee Feb 17th 2:00 am

All sounds lovely. Except for blueberry pancakes and chicken sausages. I really hope that wasn't together?

Richard Feb 17th 5:56 am

ebee, in the southern states they found a way to eat sausage for breakfast.  I think the closest thing you Brits have to our breakfast sausage is chipolatas.

flecktone Feb 17th 7:56 am

Sausage for breakfast is also a Midwest thing too, Richard.  I love me some sausage gravy and biscuits for breakfast.  Mmmmm.

Our Valentine's Day was pretty uneventful.  Church in the morning.  Then we exchanged gifts afterward.  Our daughter got most of the gifts and was the most excited.  The rest of the day was spent lounging around the house and shoveling snow.

Yesterday was our "big" day.  My wife's birthday is Feb 16th, and so is her sister's husband, and her mom's is on Feb 9th.  So growing up, she always had to "share" her birthday celebrations.  Because of that, I make her birthday a big deal at our house.

So yesterday I took her and our daughter to lunch at The Cheesecake Factory (Darlene, I saw Chip several times. With the menu roll-out being yesterday, I could see that he was busy with the "big shots" - we were seated right behind them - so I didn't get a change to have Reagan tell him "Go Blue").

Then we went over to Build-A-Bear.  My wife has been wanting a Hello Kitty from there ever since the first time we went last year with our daughter, so she got the new Hello Kitty and the little one got a wolf that she dressed in Tinkerbell's outfit.

Dinner was at home where I made an Italian cheese fondue with foccacia bread, italian sausage, steamed asparagus and broccoli florets for dipping.  For dessert my daughter and I had made a heart-shaped cake decorated with a Hello Kitty marshmallow sucker (stick removed).
