So, after four years Michael and I have decided that we need to be apart for a awhile. We both agreed that we are at two different places in our lives, him being on his own for 5 years and me just starting out on my own. He said I need to have the experience of taking care of myself like he did. I guess it was pretty mutual, but you never know what can happen I guess.

Steph you are being very brave to post this and make it sound like you are good with this, but I am sure inside you are hurt.

I do think it is a very good idea to be on your own. I just hope that you two keep in contact and stay friends?

Thanks David. Yes, I am hurting alot but I'll eventually get over this ... this time last year we were making plans to get married. Things just didn't work out the way we expected.

He will always be very special to me and so far it looks like we are going to stay close friends. I guess we will see as time goes by.

We've been together for 4 years, so it was reaching that point. The whole thing was a huge fiasco anyways, so we ended the engagement before we told anyone. I'll have to tell you the story one day.

And for the record David ... I'm almost 24 ;)

Sorry to hear that, Steph. I've never been in a relationship that long, so I can't imagine. I've had a hard time remaining friends with exes AND taking care of myself, I hope you're able to find a balance. My heart goes out to you.
