I had some old family movies transferred from 8mm to DVD.  I would really like to get them on my computer…

Anyone know of any good programs and/or ways to do this?

I've used a program called Handbrake for creating video files from DVD. It's worked pretty well.

I've used both Roxio and Pinnacle products for this. I think the version I have installed right now that I like for that is Roxio Media Creator 7

I believe I've had good luck with Handbrake as well.

This would be a cool surprise for Nathan… take our wedding video (which we've never even watched) and convert to digital and send to him over in Iraq. 

Dean, would this work to upload DVDs I already have onto my Itunes?

Are you wanting to put them onto an iPod? I think there is a preset for iPod video so you should be able to do it.

yeah, that's the main goal. I will have to meander through my ITunes…. I got my IPod second hand so it didn't have any of the instruction manuals.
