BNL Chatter / Archives / Fishing....

Judge Roy Bean Apr 13th 7:30 pm

We talk about all sorts of things on here but I've never noticed if anyone on here fishes.

I was brought up flyfishing for trout, and since moving to the coast I've taken up salt water fishing. From flyfishing for bonefish, tarpon, permit to larger one like tuna, dolpin, etc…

Went snook fishing today and took the munchkin, just had a blast.

Anyone else here fish?

Oh yeah….every chance I get.

I drive down to Schwartz's Fish Market on the lakefront and hook some nice perch dinners or fresh lake trout or salmon.

Fishing and I just never quite got along. Spent 8 hours on Lake Michigan sleeping off 10 foot waves…last time I was ever out on the lake.

David:

Try flyfishing…can be very theraputic…not that you actually need therapy ;)

Haven't fished in a veeeeeeeeery long time.

Might have to take the Judge up on his offer to come fishing with him LOL.

I'm not a fisher, but I come from a long line of people who are/were.  My dad was a fishing fanatic, as was my mother - but I just never really go into it.  I sort of feel like Justin is missing out on that part of the family tradition.

Of course, living here in the Pacific Northwest, we have some great fishing, both salt and freshwater.

Wow, this really makes me miss my dad!  While he was sick, he told Justin he would take him fishing when he got better, but of course, he passed away before that could ever happen.

I, too, come from a long line of fisherfolk… but I was deemed too "energetic" (read: annoying and loud) as a child so nobody ever took me.

The few times I've been fishing as an adult I liked it, but… you know, it's one of those things -- everyone around you has been fishing since they were an embryo, and you have no idea what's going on.

Oh, and here I thought you were just "fishing" for a compliment, JRB! lol

Here's one anyway…

My, you look very handsome in that (insert clothing item here) today. Very dashing! :)

My dad used to fish in the gulf, and in Texas lakes.  When he lost his site he used to go down and sit on a pier in Matagorda with a chicken neck tied to a string. I can't tell you how many crabs that man caught that way. HEY! Crustaceans!

Wolfy,

Tried ice fishing once….once…and that was more than enough. Have to admit I like my fishing in warmer climes..

We'll be heading up to Newfie this summer, you'll have to give us some hints.

Mox:

My parents used to crab w/ the old chicken neck when we lived in Savannah…I was way too young to remember it. Gotta love those sea bugs!!

Snorkeling for lobster in the Bahamas is pretty fun though.

I used to flyfish all the time.  Haven't done it since I moved up here.

I have a nice custom 9 ft 5/6 four piece sitting in the closet with my vest and a nice lefty Orvis reel.  It's been so long I don't even think that I remember my knots…

I need to get back out there…it's a lot of fun and flyfishing is very relaxing…as long as there isn't a lot of low overhanging trees. LOL!

Peanut wants to start Hadley Fishing…Peanut loves to fish.

This weekend our YC here is having one of our 'rallys' over on Grand Bahama, it's a family thing and should be a blast. They have some amazing eco-toursism and we arranged for guides for one day…plan to get out fishing too!!!

Taking the boat over tonight at about 3 am…really looking forward to it. Love making crossings like this..

HOpe they are biting!!
