I guess I'm glad that I don't live in CA. Reminds me of the commercial on TV California withholds tax refunds
Other state checks to be postponed for 30 days include payments for vendors who provide services and products to the state government and state checks to a million aged, blind and disabled Californians to cover rent and utilities bills, State Controller John Chiang's office said in a statement. Various state officials have been warning in recent weeks that the most populous U.S. state's coffers would run dry if Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and lawmakers fail to balance the state's current budget. The governor in his state of the state speech Thursday said California faces insolvency within weeks if it does not balance its books. |

So, I live in CA. It's not my fault that the people that run the state don't know how to handle their own Finances. But now I would have to suffer because they are dumb asses? I know that JRB would pipe in here and say that you shouldn't over pay…but a lot of people do because they can't save for the end of the year… So, because they might not make enough to do that…the state is going to bite the hand that feeds them. Let me guess, they need to raise taxes to fix this issue. Not have the people running the state to curb spending, or maybe not take pay increases…hell, you can't have the fat cats slumming… This is the shit that pisses me off. It's why I though that MA should have voted to get rid of the Income tax. Instead, the state said that they feel that they don't know how to spend a 5% pay increase themselves and wanted to state to do it for them. Now, we're going to get hit with a 26 cent gas tax to pay for a failing Big Dig project. So, people that don't even use it, are going to be forced to pay. Yet the folks on the hill are talking about a pay increase. Hell, they need to make more money somehow…

As someone who this directly affects I am pissed! I adjustment my w-4 last year to have more money in my pocket through the year and prayed I would come out even. It worked for the most part. I owe Federal a couple hundred, but am getting back a few humdred from State. No problem I figured…file the state, get the refund, pay the federal…all is well. But nooooooo…the state government can't get their heads out of their asses and now I have to suffer. Such bullshit! And, because I work for the University of California system, I haven't had a raise in 2 years. Even though my position and pay is dependent on the clinical trials that we have and NOT on state funds… The UC system has put all raises and incentive pay on hold…because of the state budget crisis. Keep in mind that UC receives very little state funds. Here's an idea…how about the state legistrators not receive ANY pay until they fix this mess they created…and they don't get it back retroactive! |

Here's an idea…how about the state legistrators not receive ANY pay until they fix this mess they created…and they don't get it back retroactive! I've been saying that for a long time. But people want to keep voting the same people into office. The ones that over spend. The ones that give themselves raises even when they claim that there's no money. Then, when you have the chance to fix it…the people say that they don't know how to spend their own money. That they would rather have them spend their own money for them… This is the stuff that drives me nuts! |

I completely agree… The thing that really, REALLY pisses me off is that the state will issue me an IOU and when I finally receive my money you know it will not include interest. But if I owed the state and sent it in late I better include interest and penalties! I wonder how many people will be sending the state IOUs for taxes owed…seems fair to me! |
