alright, for a week now I have had these bumps in my right arm…. there has been one just above the elbow, on the inside of my arm (it would be hard to hit this area to cause a bump) that is an actual bump under the skin…. the beg. of the week I thought that, somehow, my dumb ass found a way to bump it or something…

the other one I have is up in the arm pit area… this one I wouldn't call a bump because I cannot feel one, but it has the same pain and, the last couple days, it has been making the armpit noticeably swollen when I wake up in the morning…. this one, when I first noticed it, felt like a pulled muscle and it was completely plausiable in this case that this is what it was…. it just stayed too long not to concern me…..

they are both in/on the right arm…. Yesterday I took some aspirin a few times which knocked down the tenderness level *substaintially* but it is still there when pressure is applied and the swelling was still there this morning….

Also, I don't remember the pain going down this way when I took tylenol the other day.

Do you guys have any ideas/ suggestions on what it could be and advice on how to handle it???

possibly inflammed lymph nodes?  Tylenol wont treat inflammation…only pain (and poorly at that)

Ibuprofen/motrin for that…up to 800mg (4 tabs) if your tummy can handle it--is safe to take.

You need to get into the doctor to find out(if it is lymph nodes)

Have you been running a temp or have any other type of infection going on?  Sore throat?  Anything?

Are the bumps warm and painful to touch?  what about the area between the two sites?

I'm out and about seeing pt's and it's hard to access this via my cell…email me if you want…

no sore throat or other symptoms of Infection…. cause, especially the one in the pit, made me think lymp nodes or maybe a cyst, but the one by the elbow makes it a bit harder to explain….. at least to me….

the area between the two is alright…. no pain, no warmth….

the areas are painful (sore no matter what in the AM and tender after I have been moving/ taken aspirin) to the touch….

right now, the pit is still tender to the touch, the other one, not really…...
and the rough part is that I am a bit worried that it could be something serious, like a clot, cause I have a few pre-disposers to it (diabetic on birth control who smokes - I know, bad combo)

Hard to day, tj…. the one in the pit could be an infected hair follicle, I see those a lot.  But since you have one lower on the arm, hard to say. Both are odd areas for a blood clot, so that's probably a less likely culprit.  Might be lymph nodes, like Darlene said.  Might be cysts. There can also be a lump in the soft tissue called a lipoma, which is a harmless fatty tumor.  But it's impossible for me to say w/out seeing you or running tests.  I agree that you should go in and be seen by a doc or NP.  They may give you antibiotics and see what happens, or may do a few other tests.

alright, thanks Jen, the "blood clots are less likely" makes me feel WWAAAAAYYY better… I am still going tommarow to Hospital cause it is bugging me enough and it has been a week, but my overly parnoid brain was in full swing after a week LOL…..

thaks for the help ladies…. they did indeed perscribe antibiotics Jen, two of them just to cover if it is mersa or a regular infection…..

they are telling me to try and not use the arm for the next couple days till the antibiotics kick in blah blah blah…. I will do what I can, but seriously it is my dom. hand, the one I write with and everything so I don't know how much I will be able to cut it out you know???

any update? 

well, the pain is virtually non exsistent in both places… the swelling in the pit, still there a little bit and the bump is still there a little bit too but I have a couple day of mdes left (like through tommarow or the next day) the main thing now is all I want to do is sleep…. I think it is the meds, mixed with my body being a war zone between the meds and infection…. but other than that it is all good in the hood….
