BNL Chatter / Barenaked Advice / video card help
| glory | May 24th 2:46 pm
I found that i have Intel(F) G33/G31 Express Chipset. I went to the intel site and tried downloading some updates but I still can't freakin' watch my movies on Netflix (the "Watch Instant" feature that they have). Now, before, when I had Vista, there was no problem. I'm sure it was a different set of drivers or something. But now I have XP Professional. Any advice on how I can fix this so I can watch the movies? |

I would try going to the computer manufacturer's support site (dell, compaq, whatever) and see if there are different versions of drivers for that model video card for XP and Vista. Or find any model that has that video card driver available in XP. I've had some luck with that when Windows 98 and XP were both being put in some systems during that changeover. |

This could be a codec issue rather than a driver. How does netflix stream? Do they have a proprietary player? |

Yeah, I think Sean's right. It's most likely a codec or video player issue. I know Netflix only works on IE, so you probably need to make sure you have the latest version of windows media player. |

Here's a thought. If you had Vista and went to XP you might need to install XP service pack 2. You'll need that for the latest Media player and a lot of other stuff. Go to the microsoft website and have it scan your system for available updates. It will have to install a bunch of stuff to prep your system for service pack 2 and then it will tell you that service pack is available as an update. |
