I know this is totally silly, but tonight is going to be hard.

I picked up Andrew on Friday from school…end of Spring semester.

Tonight, he takes our car back to Madison for summer. This will be the first summer he is not with us obviously since he was born. And probably, we wont have him home again for a summer.

I know he will be only 2 hours away and we will see him every at least once a month, but I am feeling a void already. Having him home the last 5 days has been fun…lots of goofing off, movie watching, hanging with him and just like old times. Jenna drove up from Milwaukee to hang with us when she could and Jamie was over several times during the weekend.

Last summer he would come home from his job at day camp and we would grill on the deck or take a swim or just goof off.

*sigh*

It's time for him to move onto his future career, but damn this is so hard.

You folks with young ens…give a hug tonight and try and keep them from growing up.

where does the time go?

I just watched him drive away…...

there is a hole in the garage where the car was….

and a bigger hole in my heart.

Jodi and both broke down after he was gone.

This is harder than leaving him at school that first fall…we knew he'd be home for a month at break…he may never be home that long again.

Why is this so hard?

I dont know where the time goes…just yesterday I was walking the floor with him…

The sun did come up today and I know everything will be fine.

He was so damn excited about taking that 07 Accord back. XM stereo, leather seats, moonroof.

And Jodi is driving his little 98 Dodge Neon to work…..LOL

So…he texts me last night at 10pm to let us know he is sitting on the UW Union Terrace-which overlooks Lake Mendota. Drinking an Oberon with his gal pals Allie, Marlee and Marlee's Dad. Listing to an acoustic band.

He said summer in Madison is tough work. LOL

But…he deserves to celebrate and relax. He got his grades yesterday. He had Organic Chem, Physics, Zoology and an English Class this semester.

Plus we got a letter from his Organic Chemistry teacher. He was # 13 in a class of 308.  She said young people like Andrew are the reason she is teaching.
